ABOUT ME

Hi I'm Rebecca and I'm a Vis Dev Artist, Character Designer, and Animator based in Chicago!

 I'm a first gen immigrant born from Ghanaian and Ukrainian parents. Currently pursuing my MFA in Animation at DePaul University!


I received my BFA in Animation (Game Art) and minor in Game Design at DePaul University in 2020. I'm super passionate about music, visual storytelling, and merging the two to create vibrant, emotional stories. I love playing with contrast created between dark themes and saccharine visuals in my work. Costume design (especially hair) brings me a lot of joy.

I'm passionate about advocating for mental health and disabilities, especially in relation to Black identity, and exploring topics of intersectionality in my work. I'm inspired by anime (sakuga), video games, music, and comics.

On the side I compose and produce music and use it in my animated works.

EXPERIENCE 

 

         June 2022 - Present |  Animator, Sprite Artist, Unannounced | 2.5D Exploration Game

  • Create and prep 2D sprite animation to be colored and placed in Unreal Engine 

  • Take lead in creating inventive and fun character idle and transitional animations

  • Work closely with art department, designers, and programmers to shape immersive experience 

  • Animate playable cutscenes that blend with gameplay and further immersion

 

         Jan 2022 - June 2023 | MFA Graduate Assistant, DePaul University    

  • Collaborated with crew members to set up and host May Day, a 3 day long animating event

  • Assisted with creating social media posts and content for May Day engagement and press 

  • Curated footage and edited the undergrad and grad animation reel

  • Aided in planning DePaul's Frame-by-Frame event for Visiting Artist Series

  • Proactively developed rigging skills to create a 2D character rigs using Duik Bassel

  • Created visemes for a character rig in Illustrator and lip syncs in Adobe Character Animator 

  • Illustrated background art and assets to be used for a parallax animation

  • Created animated assets and additional animation for a client’s music video

  • Assessed quality control issues across projects and enabled impactful edits

  • Developed industry level skills in Visual Development through portfolio based assignments
